CURRENT AFFAIRS:

JPC: What were you doing on 9/11? Tell us all about it.

BB: Sleeping. My wife pulled me out of bed and we watched everything unfold. I can't tell you how much it bummed me out. I didn't even go surfing that day (which is a big deal when I don't have to go to work early). I later joined the Navy Reserve because I wanted to do something more than just drive around with a flag on my car.

JPC: When you're a teenager it's pretty easy to be all "My parents are stupid, everything sucks, boo America". So now that you're an adult, are you of the America or Amerikkka slant? Did this change post 9/11? I know a lot of doves who turned into hawks after that.

BB: I've always been pro-America. I think it's the greatest country in the world with the most freedom in the world as well. That's not to say there's not some fucked up people and institutions here, but I there's fucked up people everywhere. However that doesn't give anyone an excuse not to work to change it. That's one of the reasons I became a writer because I thought that was one of the best ways to use my talents to change wasn't screwed up with the world.

JPC: Coming up in the 80's during the "Rock Against Reagan" era, how do you feel about George Jr. running things? Is he doing a good job considering the difficult times? Or do you think he's the figurehead of a diabolical cabal of industrialists shaping the New World Order?

BB: Well, he's not perfect, that's for sure. Then again, Gore wasn't a walk in the park either, especially with Tipper tagging along. But as a member of the Navy Reserve he is my commander-in-chief and I have to support him.
